This year Endurance GB is once again offering a British Riding Clubs Team Endurance Championship which is open to all Riding Clubs in England, Wales and Scotland
In 2019 a team of 3 from the club had a wonderful time at qualifying rides where they gained experience and really bonded. They practiced at lower level rides then qualified at Hexham and then went to Cumbria as a team to cement their qualification. They then decided, as they had qualified for the championships with ease, they would make the journey to the Red Dragon ride in Builith Wells,Wales. They came 4th out of 9 teams from around the UK. But don’t worry the championships has moved much, much nearer for 2021!
Members of CDRC are invited to form endurance teams of three to six riders. A Club can have a "pool" of horse and rider combinations that are interested in competing in endurance, from which any number of teams of three to six riders can be selected. Each Club can then enter their teams into any number of qualifying rides of 30 to 42km (about 20 to 25 miles). The qualifying rides can be chosen from over seventy EGB national events throughout the country.
The Manager is Janet Lennard, advanced endurance rider and member of CDRC. Janet will look after the admin side and, with partner Peter Carter, can help at rides. Rosemary Granger, also advanced endurance rider and member of CDRC is happy to help and advise.
Potential riders do not need any special equipment, a particular breed or type of horse to get started. Only the rider, their horse and normal riding tack is required. Riders do not have to be members of Endurance GB in order to compete, but they must be current members of their Riding Club. The Club manager will declare each horse and rider combination with the national organisers before they enter any qualifying ride.
A team who completes a qualifying ride successfully will have its team score entered into a League Table Region 2. A squad can then, if it chooses, enter a second or subsequent qualifying ride. The team scores are calculated from the speed achieved over the course and the horse’s pulse at the final veterinary inspection.
The rules of the competition and full details of the Club Team Endurance Championship can be found on Endurance GB website.

The championships are being held in Cumbria on Saturday 4th September, with the ride being 32km over the fells of north Cumbria. The nearest qualifying ride is at Hexham on 7th August. It is also 32 km. Other qualifying rides are just as lovely to ride as Hexham - in North Yorkshire in June and July, all 32 km or thereabouts and plenty of shorter pleasure rides in May, June and July in Northumberland and Durham and the Scottish Borders.
So join endurance GB as a supporter for free, you will then be guided to the Club membership part, register and you are ready!
Let Janet know of your interest. Happy riding!
